Something pointed out to me whilst The BotherSOP Game 2 was taking place (which I won, it would be very remiss of me not to point out) is that Noel’s Are You Smarter Than Your Five Year Old which apparently started on Sky One this evening has upped its jackpot from £250,000 to £500,000. Fairly interesting, but more intriguing when you consider that the rest of the ladder hasn’t increased – the final question is now a jump from £100k to £500k. Interestingly tempting, but how many people get to the £100k level anyway?
Given the past two series, it’s usually two £100,000 winners per series. The new series is shorter than the other two though (lasting 20 and 25 episodes respectfully), 10 shows have been produced.
I see it as TwoFour being cocky. “Lets raise the jackpot but nobody will go for it and win it anyway”.
I may have missed this already (so sorry if I have) but can someone explain why the Beeb have stopped showing series 3 of Total Wipeout and are instead showing repeats of series 2?
It’s frustrating, sitting down with a battered sausage on a Saturday to watch a blimming repeat, and no motivator!!!
:o(
No-one seems to have any real idea, in the unfortunate truth. It looks like they’re just going to wait until after the Sx Nations and then show them all, but yes their previous strategy has been baffling (and not to mention rather disrespectful, I think).
Of course anyone with brains noticed that launching the series one week before the Six Nations was stupid – but ironically so far they’ve only been bumped out of the schedule once. Scheduled not up for the final two weeks of the Six Nations yet, but up till 5th March they’ll have screen it four times in five weeks anyway.
For what it’s worth, there are no Six Nations games on 6 March. There’s a Wipeout Window on the 13th, though I expect that’ll be Song for Europe night. No chance of a show on the 20th, it’s rugby until about 10pm.
William G Stewart’s apparently on Richard Bacon’s show this afternoon on 5Live talking about gameshows – if you miss it, available on iPlayer, of course.
I was meant to do it but I was flying back from Austria at the time.
