Alright, let’s ATTEMPT TO DO THIS:
Safebreakers – Sky’s answer to Scrapheap Challenge by the sounds of it. (2000, Monday, Sky 1)
Only Connect – first in a brand new series, tonight featuring Social Networkers vs Vegetarians. If the Social Networkers lose they’ll probably start a riot. (SATIRE) (2030, Monday, BBC4)
Deal or No Deal – New season. Beginning early, apparently. (1600, Weekdays, C4)
Shooting Stars – Fun. Don’t expect a billing every week though. (2200, Monday, BBC2)
Take the Money and Run – although I personally won’t be able to watch this until the Bother’s Bar Mega-Amazeocomputer arrives 🙁 (Tuesday, ABC)
Celebrity Big Brother – Well, it’s finally here and actually I’m quite excited in a way I wasn’t six months ago although doubtless I’ll stop watching after the first few days since I’m out most evenings these days (that’s right, get me and my life). No word on live feed yet, but Endemol Joe has promised it and he’s never been wrong about anything yet. (2100, Thursday, Channel 5)
The Bachelor – Girls play Kiss Chase with Gavin Henson. (2200, Friday, Channel 5)
Epic Win – really looking forward to this, it’s You Bet! for the modern demographics. (1730, Saturday, BBC1)
All Star Family Fortunes – this is an hour long. Let’s just stop to think about that for a second. (1900, Saturday, ITV1)
Secret Fortune – Nick Knowles is offered up as a lamb to the slaughter against… (2000, Saturday, BBC1)
The X Factor – weighing in at a restrained 75 minutes for the opener. (2000, Saturday, ITV1)
Fort Boyard 2011 – My arm aches now. It’s the kast in what has been a great if not quite perfect season, hopefully nit the last ever. (Saturday, France2)
I’ve probably forgotten something. Do speak up.
Here you go, it’s Live Celebrity Millionaire Soap Stars Special beginning its two parter after X Fac next Saturday.
Ooh yes, ESPN Classic are repeating old episodes of Superstars from time to time, generally around lunchtime on a Sunday. Sadly it doesn’t seem possible to record them as a series, unless you know better.
Hat tip to Iain about eighteen months ago.
As the avid reader of the Game Show Times will know, ESPN Classic has been showing an edition of The Superstars each weekday for the past fortnight, and has another seven to go.
The avid reader won’t know (because the BBC forgot to publicise it) that The Great British Bake Off returns for a second buntastic series on BBC2 this Tuesday at 8. Mel Giedroyc reprises her hosting role, and Sue Perkins will join her unless she scares The Hare.
*checks glasses* Marvellous. V+ set accordingly.
I have also reset a “Record Series” link for Only Connect, as it looks like last series’ link wasn’t going to pick up this series’ shows. Poor.
The BBC have publicised Great British Bake Off more than a lot of shows. Considering how little I’ve been watching TV recently (apart from Pointless and UC of course… oh, and the 2008 Celeb Apprentice USA, which is the maddest Apprentice series ever), I’ve seen that trailer an awful lot. There’s been an Associated Press story going around too, about Sue Perkins carrying a spoon. Top news there.
A very experienced team takes on a new one in this week’s UC, as Durham go up against Plymouth.
Durham, who haven’t missed a series since their Paxman Era debut in 1998/9, used to have a right knack of reaching at least the second round – in their first nine appearances, they failed just once, in 2005/6 (and then they lost out in a three-way tie among losers with 130 points for two places in the repechage).
However, they’ve failed in each of the last four series – losing heavily against an Oxford institution on all four occasions. Bad luck or what? 😯 😕
Plymouth, meanwhile, are flying the flag for the 1992 universities this year. The odds on them doing as well as Oxford Brookes did last year must be fairly high…

(yay, the return of product placement!)
Confirmed that there’s NO live BB feed this year.
Another notch for Endemol Joe’s accuracy meter then.
Actually not confirmed yet. Just a Twitter rumour. Prepares humble pie to be eaten if Joe wants.
Nope looks like it has been axed as Five want to tailor the show to the more “casual viewer”.
Way to alienate the core viewers who have been watching for a decade.
And here’s a source: 😉

I had a suspicion that your Fabricated Pointless was going to be exactly what it has been. As I resolutely do not Tweet, I shall comment-guess Crazy Connections first and PSI second.
100 points! Crazy Comparisons, not Connections.
Evidently I wasn’t cheating.
It’s funny that, another punter wondered if that’s what it was going to be.
Round two this evening is also gameshow relatee, but much more obliquely.
Another show omitted, Ton of Cash begins on VH1 in the US tonight. It’s a reality show where teams have to carry the prizemoney with them. I’m not going to get to watch this until my computer arrives, sadly.
