Some quick reminders

By | January 12, 2011

Because I have quite literally not much free time between now and the weekend I’m going to “do” some reminders:

  • Poll of 2010 – If you haven’t voted in this yet then please do so, the results are currently looking quite interesting. Lines close Saturday midnight.
  • Schlag den Raab – there’s a good chance I won’t be around for this, but I will make sure to leave a discussion post whether I am or not.
  • The Bother Series of Poker 2011many people who didn’t play last year sounding interested on Twitter so fingers crossed it’s going to be a good turnout on Sunday for the first event. May have a hilarious special guest in the form of my brother. You can register for it right now!

    “Lines close Saturday midnight.”

What’s the phone number and how much does it cost per vote?

And if you’re phone doesn’t respond you might try switching it off and on again.

          Nice one, art ;o)

Brig, isn’t it an 0800 number? aka “if you call before the closing date your call won’t be counted and will still be charged.”

And a vote after the closing date will not be counted but the call may still be charged. 😆

Meanwhile, it looks like The Marriage Ref is going to be fronted by Jo Brand, or at least the pilot is. And Alexander Armostrong is fronting a show called What Do You Know? where celebrities come up with questions to ask other celebs on randomly chosen topics whist Dave Lamb checks the facts.

Will Alexander Armstrong only front gameshows where he has a fact-checking sidekick alongside him? Pointless, now this…

Jo Brand fronting the Marriage Ref: I can see this going into a programme of “All men are [insert derogatory word]” one-liners. Basically Loose Women: The Gameshow.

Well, I guess it offsets “Take Me Out” and its nauseating casual misogyny…

The most exciting ever episode of The Chase is going on right now, anybody watching?

That guy Steve is going to get quite a bit of stick for taking -£2,000. Looks like the usual streak of “screw the others, I’m only doing this for myself” contestants we saw too often on Divided and Golden Balls are starting to appear.

Wonderful, did they finally do that? I’ve been holding out for the producers to do this: the format just begs for it. Fine stuff.

Although now they’ve broken that particular taboo, they could do with a little bit more transparency with regards to how they actually decide in what order the four play. Even if they were just presented as having agreed the running order with each other before the show, that would be sufficient.

It was great having the team cheering for the chaser.

Also that final chase was surely one of the quiz moments of 2011 already.

It was certainly the most epic yet. Even better than the one when Mark caught a team getting 26.

Absolutely – would have been rather heartbreaking to see £42k disappear if Mark had said 6 instead of 4.

And yeah, that Steve was a bit of a twat…

The minus amount was genius – I hadn’t seen that before and it fixes one of the show’s bugs. It really should’ve been a bit bigger to make it more of a decision. Very entertaining episode.

Particularly loved the irony of Steve saying that his house-mate won nothing on a quiz, then proceeding to nearly win a negative amount of money for the team, thus doing worse.

Great show, and absolutely amazing comeback from Mark in the final Chase. After he only scored 2 in the first 30 seconds I was sure it was over. Imagine my surprise when he still brought it down to the wire.

SRO Audiences confirm Push the Button will return on Saturday 5th February, which will be live but will run for nine weeks. The show will also moved from Pinewood to Fountain Studios.

Oh good, I like Fountain (that’s where The XFactor gets done, or was at any rate).

However, as the show is live there seems little point in going down to see it.

    Last night

    Total Wipeout – 4.84m (22.9%)
    The Magicians – 5.41m (23.5%)
In It to Win It – 6.18m (26.3%)*
    Take Me Out – 4.13m (17.5%)

*In It to Win It was the most watched show overall last night. Good to see Take Me Out back to 4 million.

IItWI: has it happened yet that all five contestants have won something?

It very nearly happened last night – if only Adam hadn’t made such a fool of himself with that dodo question…

Also, 88-year-old Peter must be the oldest contestant in the show’s nine-year history.

Once in about 100+ shows. All five split £40,000 and that was around 2004/2005.

          Cheers Travis. 😉

So Adam’s cock-up prevented it from happening a second time…
