Delighted this morning to see a high quality (also the very last) episode of Hughie Green’s The Sky’s The Limit on Youtube this morning. It very much feels like the end of an Ultra Quiz style contest with a final challenge that’s a bit underwhelming (who are these contestants? Who knows!) and whilst they’re digging Green interviews people around the island and asks them questions for cash. The contestants aren’t the only thing that’s digging, right, because I quite dig the theme tune. Do give Cleops a follow on Youtube, they put up some great entertainment archival stuff.
Also some NEW CONTENT on BrigBox:
South African Strike It Lucky style show…

I’d not seen it before.
Oh! I had seen that before but it’s a nice find anyway. It’s very clearly Strike It Lucky (especially if you compare it to the US original) although I note no credit for it in the credits.
Telly Fun Quiz does sound like a pisstake name though.
Oh, it’s actually called that, just noticed the logo at the back of the set! I assumed it was just the uploader trying to be funny.
Is one of the prizes a diploma?!
Feem tune:
https://twitter.com/APOALofficiel/status/1354178714876207104?s=19 I guess I could bring you a ridiculous Banker offer from APOAL every day or so but that one is so stupid and way worse than the previous one that I shared there that I couldn’t resist.
Besides of that, Pointless got axed again there to free up some space for local news and well nothing new for games in France. Quite quiet since some time.
Is there a rolling jackpot that will never get won now?
Wow, that’s… poor. I just don’t think DoND works if the Banker knows the contestant’s box.
I remember reading somewhere that it has been figured out that even when the Banker knows what’s in the box m, it’s best for them to play like they don’t know.
Rat in The Kitchen got picked up for a US version…

Since some time yup. Started @ 250k + 5k each day unclaimed
Ah of course it has, I think it was bought up when we were discussing this last year, but in my head it started at €500,000. Does it get bought to the table especially often, or even at all?
I’m not watching it that often (since it’s not good at all) but from Twitter, it never got bought to the table in 100+ shows. Many people are claiming that it’s fixed – especially being live, there’s interest for host Cyril Hanouna to drag the pace in order to increase ratings when there’s big boxes in play ( quite sure Affari Tuoi done that some times too) and/or not pay that jackpot – but we’re still not in unlikely worlds in terms of probabilities so..
While Crackerjack remains excellent, the first game in this week’s episode was very unfortunate indeed.

I was going to say it illustrates brilliantly the often-mentioned flaws of a chess clock game, though actually I’m not sure it’s actually a fully-fledged chess clock game, it’s a whoever’s-playing-when-time’s-up game. But in any case, it is a deeply flawed game. The first kid takes ages, with loads of passes and incorrect answers, the other kid gets one right in seconds, the first kid takes ages again and then it goes to the other kid with two seconds to go who promptly has no chance and loses.
Even more unfortunately, Sam is clearly aware he’s struggling and starts offering clues, seemingly in an attempt to let the other kid have another go, but unfortunately making it worse. All a bit of a mess, alas.
You would assume they’d have to look at the rules again or invite them back for another go, as it was a total disaster. The first kid could have been a bit more gracious in his celebrations too. What a shame.
Yeah this is a Timebomb game really, like current concern Lightning, which has its own reasons for not being a great format point without a bit of thought.
