And You Will Know Him By The Trail Of His Future Fighting Talk Appearances

By | December 21, 2020

Seismic news, although if you read the Stool Pigeon the other day there was certainly a hint that it may have been coming.

Great to see Pointless and House of Games will Still Be Things, intrigued to see what’s going to happen to shows he’s been producing like Cats Does Countdown, Would I Lie to You? and the like.

In other news, I had no idea Bradley Walsh’s How To Win At Gameshows was on last night on ITV, we answered a few questions during the initial planning stages of the doc when they were trying to work out what it was, I hope it was useful.

Endemol’s loss will be someone else’s gain.

How to Win a Game Show was rather underwhelming and certainly didn’t answer the question. Spent a lot of time on Poker Face and Friends Like These which seemed odd – almost as if they were testing public opinion on them. I think a run of Poker Face rather than Saturday Night Takeaway under social distancing conditions would make a lot of sense.

This week I have mostly been enjoying Australian Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush, which gets the spirit of the British original pretty close, and repeats a lot of the gags (and some of the outfits) pretty directly. It’s somewhere closer to the first series than the second, which is a good thing considering how formulaic the second series was, but uses some of the material from the second series. Tim Ferguson can sing and dance, unlike Chris Evans; I’m not sure whether Chris Evans was self-aware enough to know he was crap in a funky skillo sort of way, or whether he non-ironically thought he was good enough to force on the world at large, though I’d easily believe the latter. Sadly no “throw things out of your window” game any more, and sadly I fear that this will never be possible again due to the delays inherent in digital TV (or, even more slowly, Internet) transmission. Nevertheless, a fun hour for those of us old enough to remember the first time.

Great find! I saw some Aussie Toothbrush on Youtube ages ago and hadn’t realised loads more has been put up since.

Although the budget didn’t run to having the shows title card graphics reworked to be on the top of the tv studio building, as they used the UK one. I’d recogonise the LWT/London Studios/ITV Studios London facade anywhere!
