Schlag den Raab 17th March 2012

By | March 17, 2012

7:15pm UK (8:15 CET),
Pro Sieben or (fingers crossed) internet streaming

It’s the first Schlag den Raab of the 2012! After winning the previous battle in December 66-0, Stefan Raab has a million Euro to defend. Hopefully tonight’s batch of contestants will put up a bit more of a fight.

I’m not going to be here for the start, but the regular punters normally offer up a commentary if you want to join the live discussion.

This looks like an estimated guess quiz, first to be nearest the answer four times is the winner. 30 seconds thinking time each time.

How many 1 cent coins will outweigh a 2 Euro coin, I think this is.

Last question was How many vertebrae does a Giraffe have, how it’s how many baskets will an audience member score out of 10 attempts.

I’m guessing that last question asked at which time did the sun rise in Cologne this morning.

Speking personally, at the moment Ice Karting has been both the highlight and the lowlight, if that’s possible.

And the audience member gets a copy of the home game for her trouble, which is nice..

As of now, this is going to at least Game 12.

    Right, music break done.

Game 9 for 9 is tischdecke. Shuffleboard?

Edit: no, it’s building with glass tumblers. No it’s pulling table cloths.

Looks like it’s the classic party trick, yanking the tablecloth from underneath some glasses, in this case.

Looks like they take it in turns, increasing the glasses each time. One minute to pull, three failures and you’re out.

I think the problem was he didn’t give himself enough room to pull, so he didn’t get enough travel to clear the lot.

They’re going to run out of space in the marked area where they’re putting the glass in…

This is another of those games they haven’t seemed to have tested. I suspect if they do have to start stacking vertically, that will end the game quite quickly.

Judging by how many tumblers are left on the table, there’s a maximum of 32, I think.

Scratch that, with 2 left on the with Alexander doing 34, 36 is the maximum. I wonder if they’ll end it there or have to hunt around for more…

No stacking on top it seems, I can see this game ending in a stalemate.

I would think Alexander would win because of Stephan’s one strike…

Someone’s just run to Ikea and brought another load of tumblers.

It’s going to take the whole 60 seconds just to get the glasses on the table…

This is looking like an SdR Marathon games special, first the game with the styrofoam peanuts, now this one…

It is past midnight in Germany, and millions of people are watching a long tablecloth-pulling competition in which a man struggles to multiply seven by six. INCREDIBLE JEOPARDY.

Are they just a lot better at the task than anticipated? Either way, as a first time viewer I’ve grown very weary after half an hour on the same game.

I expect that’s precisely what’s happened. There were only 36 glasses on the table to begin with.

The black line has long since reached the point of redundancy. To misquote Jaws, “We’re gonna need a bigger tablecloth!”

Wikipedia says 1:49 was the latest finish. We could have a record breaker here though!

I’d say leave it at 50 and give Alex the win, since Stefan lost a life

Ha ha, I think some are suggesting this will still be going by the time the Formula One starts in a few hours.

Quick correction: #SDR is the proper tag, and there’s what I can only assume is some Proper German Sarcasm going on there.

I think they want this game done as quickly as possible now.

Easy as it is to feel sorry for the producer, I feel a lot more sorry for the warm-up guy. Can you imagine trying to spark up that crowd during the next ad break?
