7:15pm UK time, Pro 7 or naughty internet streaming
It’s Schlag den Raab this evening! But first a bit of housekeeping:
Fantasy X Factor managers should get their orders and predictions in in time for the live performance show this evening which is 7:45pm.
A review of the Only Connect iThing app will happen sometime tomorrow.
Right, that’s out of the way. Tonight Stefan Raab defends €500,000 LIVE! in a series of wacky games and challenges. Join us here for exciting discussion.
Edit: And this is a fun story, it sounds like Darren McMullen will be the next host of The Magicians, and is likely to involve a live element.
This game goes to Raab:
Klaus 21:15 Raab
Stefan wins Frisbee 9-5. 21 plays 15.
Game 9 and Noel Gallagher after the break!
I have literally no idea what this long form advert is about.
Game 9: Concentration.
It’s the internal cupboard of DOOM!
Mental agility test. Recite the alphabet backwards. As fast as you can.
An interesting face he’s pulling here.
Oh, if they mess up they have to start from the beginning. Harsh!
An incorrect answer means you have to start over again.
Oh, Raab thought he had it but missed the D. He’s struggling.
Klaus probably thinks everyone has forgotten him.
It took him three tries, but he finally did it: 3:56.25 is the time to beat.
Klaus has made a mistake but he is otherwise racing through it.
Oh, a mistake near the end. Will he fall apart?
Third time lucky, just over two minutes. Klaus wins!
Klaus 30 : 15 Raab
Game 10: Schmetterlinge. Seems to involve a butterfly net.
Ah, bits of paper are dropped from the top of the studio, the players must catch them.
They must hold the net with one hand at the end. Harder than it looks!
Game 10 is Schmetterlinge (Butterflies). Using a net, you have to catch the toy butterflies that are being dropped from the sky.
This challenge is brilliant!
They will get ten ‘butterflies’ each. The contestants must be careful not to make the job harder by waving the net around, influencing the butterfly in the process.
The score is 3:2 to Raab at the halfway stage. Raab showing superior hand-eye coordination at this stage.
Raab wins the game, 4 up with 3 to play.
Klaus 30:25 Raab
Game on!
Game 11 is Scheissen, in the other studio.
Shooting?
Yes, pistol shooting at a target.
But first pizza.
Four sets of five shots each. Raab starts off well with an 8, but gets gradually more disappointing with each shot, scoring 23 total.
Klaus almost misses the target with his first shot, gets better then scores a second 1 to score 18 total for his first set.
Raab getting high numbers or missing completely in his second set 17 on the basis of an 8 and 9 – 40 total.
More consistent performance from Klaus round 2, two sevens and two other scores for 21 taking him to 39.
And now a break. It’s almost midnight in Germany.
first time i’ve sat through and watched (well the majority of) a schlag den raab, i know its in the format, but its very tense
Whenever I bet to watch it it always feels like a Raab whitewash. It’s more interesting when he’s struggling!
To put the evident question out there; “Why dont ITV make this?”. Miles better than the X Factor!
They did! But it was too expensive for the viewers it was bringing in – a million quid a show.
Shame, I remember it being actually quite good!
and when they made it they did it very poorly, repeated james, had dull games, always had a race, i tired of it (the second series) rather quickly.
to be honest, in its long extended form here, a british audience would never go for it.
They filmed the first series in Germany – didn’t repeat a game other than the end of series ‘best of’, and they were usually more wide ranging than the series two ones. Pity.
Really?! Considering how ‘cheap’ the games look, I thought it would be a great investment. And I agree that they could have done more with the second series, and that repeating games definitely did wear the show out (kinda shows a lack of creativity from the production team don’t you think).
But if they did it exactly like the German show (6 times a year, accumulative jackpot of £500k) then it could be the ‘event tv’ that ITV so desperately wants!
Plus the duration of the show could be drastically reduced through shorter games, and the fact that there are rules around ad breaks here, which in turn could make the show a hell of a lot shorter.
Plus through SMS voting for contestants, merchandising and product placement, ITV could make some extra money through it.
though im tiring quickly of german ad breaks
Alright, pistol shooting round three. Raab leads 40-39.
Very poor round for Raab, loads of 1s but saved by a final 9 for a total of 14 and 54. The door is open!
Klaus scores consistantly, 6s and 7s and an 8 for 31, taking him to 70.
Nobody seems to have commented on the Armourer’s fantastic facial hair.
Stefan needs at least 16 to stay in this…
Final round, Raab is in the hole by 16.
Oh! He’s pulling it out of the bag with the first 10 of the contest, 31 total for 85 total.
15 to tie, 16 to win. Very doable.
4, 10, 20, 27, 31. Klaus needs 15 to tie, 16 to win.
7…
12…
20! He’s done it!
And another consistant round for Klaus, 33 easily enough.
Klaus 41:25 Raab
Klaus needs to win any two of the last four games to win. Raab must win three of them to defend.
I’m so glad I wrote the same thing 30 seconds later.
I think the points are now irrelevant in the game – all Klaus has to do is win 2 games to win, or Raab win 3 games to win.
Game 12 is THE CLASSIC Blamerien oder Kasserien mit Elton.
They play it every time–Game 12 is Blamieren oder Kassieren, with Elton!
IT’S ELTON!
Klaus has been better over the mental games this evening so far. This is a quiz, first to seven, wrong answers not only give away the point but gives them the chance to answer for a bonus.
BoK is a regular feature on Raab’s TV Total, so someone said.
Stefan winning this.
If Stefan wins then the maths is simple, it’s a straight best of three over the last three games.
