It’s Foreigners That Go On A Bit Weekend! (feat. Schlag den Raab 5/5/12)

By | May 4, 2012

I’m busy over the next few nights but there are some entertaining foreign shows on, and happily because they’re on for ages there’s a chance I might get to see some of them.

Tonight at 9-11pm UK time is the Spanish version of popular Italian fun king of the hill quiz Avanti! You can watch an official live feed of the channel here.

Saturday at 7:15 UK time Stefan Raab defends a whopping €2m on Schlag den Raab. Hopefully a naughty live feed will turn up.

And that’s it! Stefan wins it 10-2

A bit one sided that. I was hoping that the game would end quite quickly so they can fit in lots of extra tablecloth pulling.

What would be the Bar’s reaction if they actually DID do Tischdecken for the 15th game? 😀

It’s a big fan favourite, I think there is every chance.

It won’t be game 15 though as that’s usually sudden death.

Shoe identification purely by ladies’ screams in the advert there. How long until that makes it into SdR?

OK, the computer zooms in on a particular part of the world and Stefan and Peter are given 3 options as to where it is. First to 5 points wins.

I make it first to six.

They both answer at the same time, so I guess if they get to 6-6, it will go to sudden death.

Yes, you’re right, it IS first to 6

Not really a language barrier here either, which is always good.

Schmecken – looks like it could be tablecloth pulling, isn’t.

    Think it’s a taste test.

Yep, another mainstay of SdR, tasting various ingredients on a plate.

Do they normally have a 6:00 time limit on this game?

I’ve not seen them play this game in this way before, I think the six minutes thing may be new. I didn’t catch how many potential spoons they will be getting.

        Reply
    2. Lewis

Oh I see. They get 6 minutes total, chess clock style, and will have more than one spoon to identify the contents of I think.

They’re evidently playing Hey Ya! Quite loudly through the headphones.

They played a version of this game on Beat the Star, identify as many of the things on the spoon as you can.

  8. Andy "Kesh" Sullivan

This first spoon is Currant, Courgette, Watermelon, Mozzarella and Pistachio.

  9. Brig Bother Post author

In the original version of this there were three foodstuffs to identify on each spoon. Now with five it’s much harder.

  10. Lewis

Peter’s not doing well, using lots of his time to identify only 1 item correctly. This might well be Stefan’s game.

Spoon 2 – Cucumber, Kohlrabi, Potato, Pumpkin, Radish

Peter ties it up 4-4 but has less time on his clock…

Spoon 3 – Ginger, Plum, Salami, Noodle, Broccoli

  14. Lewis

And apparently that’s the last spoon, Stefan’s taken off his amusing goggles.

So Peter just needs to get 3 out of the 5 ingredients to win…

And he can’t do it! Stefan wins 6-5

I once played it with jellybeans (of known flavour). That was a bit easier as the flavours don’t intermingle unless you chew each jelly bean. It’s a surprisingly fun game.

uh, that should read 20 Stefan of course.

      That was Game 8, right?

Yes, I realised my error when the scoreboard came up JUST as I clicked Submit 😀

I was unsure, waited for the scoreboard, and forgot to type Stefan’s name in! Oh the perils of trying to be up to date.

It’s iOS favourite Cut the Rope! Except it’s just a ton of ropes and I guess they all have to be cut in a race.

      Reply
    2. Andy "Kesh" Sullivan

OK, this looks like it involves Peter and Stefan cutting their way through a large number of ropes with a pair of scissors. First to reach the end wins.

The third Autoball tournament since they have them every two years.

I hope there will be a naughty feed as it’s five hours of constant extreme car football.

This is going to get very tiring on the wrists quite quickly I expect.

Raab well ahead but will his technique hurt in the long run?

    Reply
  17. Andy "Kesh" Sullivan

Stefan’s worked out that he can twist the rope to cut it better, giving him a HUGE lead!

    Reply
  18. Lewis

Wow, Stefan got that technique down quickly!

    Peter 16 – 29 Stefan

  19. David B

I don’t know why they make these games so long. If someone works out a better technique by 30 ropes, it’s unlikely the lead will change by 50 ropes.

    Spiel 10 – Buchstaben-Salat (Alphabet Soup)

Only seen this game once before, it involved solving anagrams, and the letters are placed randomly in the word, one letter at a time.

    A language-dependent game then. Lovely.

First to 6 wins, usual rules I’m guessing.

They think they’re having buzzer problems, but it seems clear the buzzer isn’t lighting up until after a letter animation is done.

Stefan is just tapping at the buzzer instead of putting proper downward pressure on it.

I’m pretty sure there have been episodes where the match is over before Elton is due to show up. It happened a few episodes ago in fact, and was rewarded with wxtra appearances in the next show.
